A Milestone for UCA WAVES, a Step Forward for AAPI Communities

We’re proud to share a major milestone in our work to advance health equity for AAPI communities in North Carolina!

After more than two years of community engagement, research, and collaboration, UCA WAVES is sharing the Identifying AAPI Health Priorities in North Carolina Project Report.

Funded by the Blue Cross NC Foundation, this project brings together six research aims, community voices, and partnerships to better understand the health needs, barriers, and lived experiences of diverse AAPI communities, including Chinese and Karen communities. From healthcare access and mental health to discrimination and community-identified priorities, this work helps address gaps in research and ensures that community experiences inform the conversation.

This report represents more than research. It reflects the time, trust, knowledge, and contributions of community members, families, youth, researchers, partners, and mentors who helped make this work possible!
