Maria Cervania is a Representative in the North Carolina General Assembly. She is one of the first Asian American women elected to the NCGA and the first person of Filipino descent elected in North Carolina. She completed her undergraduate studies in Biology at the University of California at Berkeley and graduate work in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Following graduate school, she dedicated her life to public service. Representative Cervania is part of the team that created the first AAPI Caucus in the NCGA, and the lead sponsor of the first NC AAPI Heritage Commission.
