Jennifer Liu (Yingli Liu )
Peer Support Specialist

Jennifer Liu graduated from Harbin Education College with a degree in Early Childhood
Education. After graduation, she worked with her family to set up private kindergartens and later moved to Guangzhou to run a business for several years. After getting married, she returned to her family and found her passion for helping others. She led mothers in her community to organize charity sales and auctions. After the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, she helped her community raise 10,000 yuan for the Shanghai Red Cross Society by donating and selling unused items.
In 2019, Jennifer moved to the United States with her husband. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she joined an online Chinese medicine charity team. She supported doctors in diagnosing overseas patients, helped plan events, and wrote articles for the team. She also worked with a stray animal rescue team, helping with writing and publicity.
Jennifer is now part of the North Carolina Waves Village charity team. She says: “As a homemaker, I love my family and my life, but I also love helping others. Joining the Waves Village team was meant to be. People with the same goals will always find each other, no matter their faith, religion, or background. My friends and I hope to support new Chinese immigrants in North Carolina who are facing challenges and grow together through this work. A better world isn’t made by a few people doing a lot, but by many people doing a little. I’m happy to walk this journey with others who care.”
