Youth Ambassador
WAVES Makers Young Professional Council: Hannah Feng
Hannah Feng is a first-year counseling psychology Ph.D. student at Fordham University, where she hopes to conduct research on AAPI mental health and develop therapeutic skills for working with children and families. Prior to graduate school, Hannah was a Fulbright Canada research grantee conducting a program evaluation on a community-based mental health outreach initiative called the Youth Health and Cultural Ambassadors. In this role, she conducted community-based research focused on immigrant and refugee youth.
Hannah completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and International Studies at the University of Michigan. After earning interning at a private mental health clinic in 2021, she became interested in pursuing Asian Community Mental Health as a clinical psychologist. Last summer, Hannah joined the inaugural cohort of the 2022 Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholarship for Public Service, connecting her with resources and an incredible network of future public service leaders. She also previously studied abroad at the National University of Singapore in Spring 2023, where she explored the Asian diaspora, the intersection of East and West, and the mental health landscape in Asia.
Hannah has always been interested in community service and helping professions, but her life experiences with mental health stigma in her Chinese communities have directed this passion in the field of Asian Community Mental Health. Hannah is thrilled to be joining WAVES as a youth ambassador and research assistant, where she hopes to facilitate important dialogues about mental well-being and contribute to the sparse research on Asian American mental health.
