Advisory Board: Gail Pruett
Gail Pruett, MSN, RN (Retired) has a long and active involvement in mental health. Her 50+ year nursing career focused on serving people with lived mental health issues in inpatient and outpatient settings, managing her own psychotherapy practice, facilitating the learning of nursing students about psychiatric mental health nursing, and managing a psychiatric inpatient unit.
After retirement from nursing, Gail has continued to work in mental health, serving as the Program Coordinator for English-as-a-Second Language at her church and on the Board of the North Carolina state chapter of the National Alliance of Mental Illness. She believes in maximizing the social determinants of mental health for all people, with the purpose of preventing mental illness and self-harmful behaviors, while amplifying the life potential of people who have experienced a mental condition. Gail received her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Degree, concentrating on Community Psychiatric Nursing from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
She has been married for over 50 years to a wonderful man where they live in North Carolina. This energetic couple enjoys eating a variety of ethnic foods, actively following the lives of their nieces and nephews; and supporting one another in various interests.
