Her work examines the individual, family, school, and cultural factors that contribute to bullying, victimization, and mental health challenges. She is committed to developing effective prevention and intervention strategies to reduce bullying in schools and creating school-wide models that promote positive mental health for all students.
With more than 60 peer-reviewed publications and over 100 national and international presentations, Dr. Wang is recognized for her expertise in school psychology and youth mental health. Her current projects include studying the impact of COVID-19 on racial discrimination, identity development, and socialization (funded by the NSF), exploring racial discrimination and civic engagement among Asian American families (funded by the Russell Sage Foundation), and testing a novel psychosocial intervention for Asian American parents and youth (funded by the American Psychological Foundation). She is also working on promoting mental health literacy and positive help-seeking behaviors among minority adolescents and investigating how school and family factors influence bullying involvement and psychosocial adjustment.
