Silent War Screened at Duke University

On Nov 18, Duke University hosted a special screening of Silent War: Asian American Reckonings with Mental Health, co-organized by Duke APSI and the Asian American & Diaspora Studies Program at Duke University🏫

Directed by Changfu Chang and produced by Lily Chen of UCA WAVES, this powerful documentary gives voice to Asian Americans who bravely share their stories of struggle, healing, and hope🌷 The film breaks the long-standing silence in many Asian families around mental health, emotional pain, and intergenerational trauma.

After the screening, community leaders and mental health advocates joined a meaningful discussion on why Asian Americans experience high levels of distress—yet are among the least likely to seek help due to stigma and cultural barriers🚧

UCA WAVES continues to support the community through free programs like Mental Health First Aid training, peer support groups, book clubs, and workshops📚 In 2026, we’re launching Strong Minds, a new initiative funded by NC Department of Health and Human Services to provide one-on-one mental health support to Chinese American community members.

Mental health matters. Let’s break the stigma, support one another, and win this “silent war” together. Want to learn more about the film? Click on the button below⬇️
