On May 17, something truly meaningful happened.
In honor of Military Spouse Appreciation Day, UCA WAVES hosted a heartfelt dinner in partnership with the Nazareth cell group from FKBC (Fayetteville Korean Baptist Church) to celebrate the strength, sacrifice, and resilience of military spouses.
Over 20 people gathered, including six incredible military spouses, two of whom are also female veterans. We shared delicious food, thoughtful gifts, and honest conversation, but most importantly, we shared space to truly see and support one another.

One story deeply moved us all.
A mother of two, a veteran herself, came alone. Her husband is currently deployed in Iraq. She’s homeschooling, holding down the fort, managing daily stress and constant demands. A leaking refrigerator caused water damage. The pressure kept building. She came in holding back tears but she also came looking for connection.
And that’s what she found.
We listened. We comforted her. Volunteers offered to bring groceries, help around the house, and just be there. What she needed most was someone to show up and that’s exactly what Pathway for Heroes is all about.
This new initiative by UCA WAVES uplifts veterans, active duty service members, and military families, with a special focus on those who serve behind the scenes: military spouses. Through community, mental health support, and practical help, we’re creating a network of care that lasts beyond a single dinner.
To every military spouse: you are not invisible. You are not alone. We see you. We thank you. We’re walking this path with you.
