On May 4, UCA WAVES volunteers participated in CAFA’s annual Spring Fair, which brought together nearly 700 members of the Chinese community. Our booth drew a lot of attention—many visitors shared how essential mental health is in their lives and expressed strong support for our mission to promote mental wellness in the Chinese American community.

We were especially encouraged by the interest shown by older adults in our in-person mini-education health talks. Many people also joined us in completing a survey on AANHPI adult mental health needs—important research that helps shape better support for Asian American communities.
Some attendees were excited to sign up as WAVES volunteers, and expressed interest in mental health first aid training so they can better support those around them.
One Chinese American family doctor from Burlington told us: “Thank you for serving the community with such dedication. Strengthening the bonds within the Chinese community through mutual support is so important—I believe UCA WAVES will make greater achievements.”
