Youth Mental Health Mini-Summit in Raleigh, NC

Who says mental health advocacy can’t be fun? In fact, incorporating joy, curiosity and connection is exactly what the conversation surrounding mental health needs🏓 It’s already heavy—why add to the weight?

On May 3rd, WAVES was proud to join teens, families, and community partners at the Youth Mental Health Mini-Summit in Raleigh, NC!🌄

From cultural sharing and hacky sack games to sound baths, art spaces, and real conversations about motivation, identity, and wellness—this event reminded us that mental health support can be playful, powerful and creative🎨

Our Executive Director Jian (Lily) Chen and licensed therapist Grace were on-site representing WAVES with heart, energy, and cultural connection—helping to create safe spaces for youth to thrive.

Special thanks to Duke Health, YMCA of the Triangle, Southeast Raleigh Promise, Live Well Wake Wake County, NC and HealthLit4Wake for making this event possible, and to all the organizers, speakers, and teens who made it a meaningful day🤗💚
