On 4/13, WAVES Executive Director Lily Chen and Dr. Grace Wu, WAVES consultant researcher and UNC School of Nursing faculty member, attended the Partner Appreciation Dinner at the Karen Community Farm at Oaky Grove. The event was filled with heartfelt gratitude, cultural performances by Karen children, and delicious homemade Karen cuisine.
The Karen Community Farm, situated on the historic Oaky Grove property in Wake County, provides Karen refugees with access to land, resources, and education to grow Asian crops, helping preserve their cultural heritage through farming and food. (karencommunityfarmnc.org)

WAVES has been proud to partner with and support the Karen Community Farm since 2024. In February, we raised over $7,000 to support a Karen family living at the farm, showing our strong commitment to uplifting AAPI communities.
Exciting developments are on the horizon as the farm prepares to move to a larger nearby location, expanding its capacity to serve even more families.
We are honored to stand alongside the Karen Community Farm and support their mission of empowerment, resilience, and cultural preservation.
