On the morning of January 17, Ms. Fang Qi, a Peer Educator and MHFA Trainer led an inspiring two-hour session for visiting scholars and new immigrant parents in North Carolina. The seminar, titled “Relationship First, Education Second: How to Help Children Adapt to Campus Life in the United States,” explored practical strategies for improving parent-child relationships and helping children adjust to new educational and cultural environments.
Key topics included:
✅ Mental health challenges faced by students
✅ Positive parenting strategies
✅ Bridging cultural differences in education
✅ Real-life examples and interactive discussions
Parents were encouraged to focus on positive communication and emotional support, with the reminder that “when children are the least lovely, they need love the most.”
The seminar left attendees deeply moved and equipped with practical tools to nurture their children’s growth and well-being.

听方琦老师心理讲座有感

2025年1月17日上午,我有幸在教堂山公共图书馆聆听了方琦老师的心理学系列讲座《如何帮助孩子适应美国校园生活》,收获满满!
我本人关注青少年心理学已有三年之久,深感心理学知识的强大力量,帮助我顺利地应对了我的大女儿的青春期问题。目前在我的家庭里,我们夫妻俩跟孩子的链接非常紧密,每天都可以和孩子快乐地交流,其乐融融。
然而,生活之琐碎和复杂多变,让我时不时会在一些与孩子相处的细节上深感不知所措,无法准确地拿捏尺寸,不免会犯一些错误。说明我对于心理学知识和应用的掌握仍待提高,还有非常多的漏洞需要填补。
此次方老师的讲座,运用了诸多生动的、贴切的案例,以及很多方老师自身的生活经历,极大的填补了我的心理学知识和应用方面的空白,比如:如何锻炼以尊重别人为原则的沟通技巧;如何培养积极发现孩子优点的思维方式和摒弃总是关注缺点的错误习惯;还有心理营养的五个要素等等。所有的这些精彩内容,让我又有了一种醍醐灌顶和胜读十年书的开唔之感。即刻开始期待日后与孩子及家人的相处又可以更加地和谐美满,我打心底里由衷感谢方老师充满大爱的分享!
路漫漫其修远兮,心理学之博大精深仍需我努力上下而求索。所以期待着今后能够继续跟着方老师继续学习,成就幸福的自己,同时帮助他人。
