As part of a study on mental health experiences and help-seeking behavior in the Karen community, UCA WAVES Executive Director Lily Chen conducted a feedback session on interview questions for the Karen Community Advisory Committee at the Karen community farm in Oaky Grove, attended by 15 committee members.

Lily sought input on 17 semi-structured interview questions aimed at understanding stress, mental health, barriers, and help-seeking among Karen youth and parents. The community members offered valuable feedback to enhance clarity, cultural sensitivity, relevance, and encouragement. We are grateful for the strong support of the Karen community in our Identifying AAPI Health Disparity Research, funded by the Blue Cross NC Foundation, where we serve as co-project leaders.
